Aji Amarillo Powder 18 oz.


Aji Amarillo powder is next to impossible to find in a grocery store, and if you do find it you are more than likely over paying for it.  By buying in larger quatities not only do you get to enjoy the great taste and possibilities of this gourmet chili powder for months, but you also save a significant amount of money.

Aji Amarillo powder is made from Aji Amarillo chiles. Aji Amarillo is also known as Aji escabeche. The Aji Amarillo is the most common chile in Peru. In the USA, it is sometimes referred to as the yellow chile or Peruvian chile. The pods are 4-5 inches long and deep orange in color when mature. The thin fleshed pods have a clearly pungent heat. This pepper has a lemony, fruity flavor that works well in sauces, salsas, and stews.  The pod is grown in all of the regions of Peru, for instance, the coast, the Andes and the Amazon jungle.

Suggested Use:
Use anywhere you want a little heat and lots of flavor. This gourmet chile powder works great if you are trying to add a little heat and a lot of flavor to meats or poultry for grilling. Use a little in your ru and you will get massive results.

Recipe Idea:

Curry Soup with Beans

1 lb Dried Appaloosa Beans, soaked

4 ea Whole cloves

4 ea Whole peppercorns

1 ea Bay leaf

1/2 ts Aji Amarillo Chile powder

Salt, to taste 2 ea Onions, chopped

1 c Carrots, sliced

3 tb Oil

2 tb Curry powder

1/2 ts Paprika

Cook beans in water to cover with cloves, peppercorns, bay, chile powder, salt, onions and carrots. Cook until tender, about 1 1/2 hours. In a small skillet, heat the oil. Add curry powder and paprika, and stir for a minute to develop the flavors. Add to soup and simmer together for a few minutes before serving.
